Contemporary artwork in harmony with the seasons

Paintings, drawings, and collage in a variety of media

I am a Scottish fine artist living in rural North Yorkshire. Drawing inspiration from my immediate surroundings, oil painting is my passion and primary focus.

Attuned to seasonal rhythms, I strive to capture the essence of my subjects – the hidden vibratory world from which form emerges and dissolves.

Acute observation and detailed studies inform my paintings, which typically begin figuratively. Utilizing multiple layers of thin paint, I move through stages of simplification and abstraction. Nature resonates through this process, from birdsong to the susurration of trees, morphing into impressions, feelings, and delicate retrospection. Sensitive to the ephemeral flow of time, my new work increasingly focuses on colour, interstitial space, and light.

I studied illustration at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee. Poetry inspired my degree show, and I continue this connection today writing and publishing my own short form poems.

I am represented by Saltaire Art Gallery and exhibit with the Yorkshire Art Collective.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my work – I hope that it resonates with you.
